Good British Isles Cruise

I booked a British Isles cruise for last summer, departing from Liverpool. The booking process online was pretty straightforward, just picked my dates and cabin type, an Ocean View. Had a few questions about the drink package, so I called their customer service, and they were quite helpful, explaining the options clearly. The ship, Borealis, was smaller than I'm used to but well-maintained. Food was good, typical cruise fare, and the scenic cruising was definitely a highlight. Delivery of the e-tickets was prompt. Overall, a solid trip, felt like good value for the money spent.

Arctic cruise experience

We took an Arctic cruise with them. Booking was simple enough, and we got the early booking discount. The ship was comfortable, and staff were mostly attentive. Food was generally good, though some evenings felt a bit repetitive. Shore excursions were well-organized. My only real gripe was the internet package pricing; it felt a little steep for the speed we got. Still, saw the Northern Lights, so that made up for it.

What's the dress code like on Fred Olsen ships? Don't want to overpack.

C CruiseVet 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Pretty relaxed most nights. Smart casual is fine. Some people dress up for formal nights but it's not compulsory.

So no black tie needed?

Definitely saw people in jeans sometimes too. Very flexible.

They have a 'dress code' section on their site. Read it before my first one, was pretty accurate.

Are Fred Olsen cruises all-inclusive or do you pay extra for drinks?

T ThirstyTraveller 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Usually not fully all-inclusive by default. You can add a drinks package though, which is what I did.

What's the best way to get an early bird discount for 2025 cruises?

F ForwardThinker 6 days ago ✓ Best Answer
Keep an eye on their 'Future Cruises' section. They usually announce early bird deals a year or so in advance. Booked my 2024 one that way.

hey, trying to figure out if i need to bring a ton of formal wear for a Fred Olsen cruise. is it super dressy or more relaxed?

J Josh 2 months ago
Nah, it's pretty chill. They have a few 'formal optional' nights but mostly it's smart casual. You don't need a tuxedo or anything unless you really want to.
3
P Priya M. 2 months ago
Yeah, mostly just comfortable stuff. I usually pack a couple of nicer outfits for the evenings, like a dress or a shirt with a collar, but it's not like the old days with full black tie every night. Some people do dress up, but it's not enforced.
